Tsou and Chiayi flavors at ton'u kitchen
The name of ton'u kitchen on the ground floor comes from the Tsou word for millet, and the menu blends Chiayi street food, Alishan ingredients and Tsou cuisine. Breakfast is served 06:30–10:00, lunch 11:30–14:00 and dinner 17:30–21:00; reservations are recommended.
On sunny days you can have breakfast on the outdoor terrace. For dinner, confirm a table with the front desk when you check in so you are not left without a seat.

With a private charter
Coming up from HSR Chiayi Station or Chiayi city means taking the Alishan Highway, a winding mountain road that often gets foggy in the afternoon. Driving time depends on road and weather conditions, so it is best left to a charter driver who knows the mountain roads. GO TAIWAN's current Cingjing–Sun Moon Lake–Alishan, Taichung–Sun Moon Lake–Alishan family and 7-day round-island itineraries all put Alishan on the final day. If you want to stay here for the sunrise, ask your travel consultant to add a night before Alishan: check in the afternoon before, head up to the Forest Recreation Area early the next morning, then connect to Chiayi city or the HSR on the way down. There is a drop-off area by the entrance, so your charter driver can let everyone out right at the door. Guest parking is free; check with the hotel whether this applies to charter vehicles.
